The air was filled with a sense of accomplishment and unity as the our group completed their transformative journey with the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP). Gathered in a spirit of shared purpose, participants from diverse backgrounds celebrated the completion of the Advanced AVP workshop, an immersive experience designed to delve into the root causes of violence and foster personal growth.

AVP, founded by Quakers on the belief in an inherent power for peace within every individual, stands as a beacon of hope for communities, businesses, social service agencies, youth organizations, and even within the confines of prison walls. It is a program that transcends religious, racial, and socio-economic boundaries, embracing all who seek positive change in their lives.

At its core, AVP is a program that empowers individuals to make profound shifts in their attitudes and behaviors. It is not psychotherapy but a dynamic learning experience offered through three levels of workshops: the Basic Workshop, the Advanced Workshop, and the Training for Facilitators Workshop.

As this group emerges from the Advanced AVP workshop, they stand on the threshold of a remarkable achievement — one step closer to becoming AVP Facilitators. Their journey of personal growth and transformation has not only strengthened their individual resolve but has also cultivated the skills and insights needed to guide others on their path to positive change. With each member carrying the torch of Transforming Power, this group is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering peace and understanding in their communities. As they embrace the prospect of becoming AVP Facilitators, they carry forward the mission of the AVP program, creating ripples of positive change that have the potential to transform lives and build a more harmonious society.
